Terms of service
Last updated 15 May 2026
These terms govern your use of The Accounts (statdesk.co.uk), including the public website, the company and industry pages, the live filings feed, the screener, and the daily email brief (together, the "service"). By using the service you agree to these terms.
1. The service
The Accounts is an independent project that publishes intelligence on UK companies derived from public Companies House filings. We organise, format, summarise, and extract figures from those public filings into company, industry, and screener views, and we publish a daily editorial brief by email to subscribers.
The service is provided free of charge. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may rate-limit or restrict access where needed to protect the service.
2. No advice and no warranty
The content on the site is for general information only. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting, credit-rating, or professional advice, and must not be relied on as such. Always verify any figure against the original Companies House filing (the page header links back to it) before acting on it.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties — express or implied — including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Extraction from public filings is an ongoing process; figures may be incomplete, delayed, or occasionally wrong, and a small share of underlying filings carry filer-entered placeholder values that we surface as filed.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- access the service through automated means (scrapers, bots, headless browsers) at a rate that materially impacts other users or the service, or that circumvents any technical rate-limit or access control;
- attempt to probe, attack, reverse-engineer the service, or interfere with its operation or security;
- use the service to send unsolicited messages, harass, defame, or harm any individual or company;
- re-publish bulk extracts of the site as if they were your own work; you may quote and link to individual pages and figures with attribution to The Accounts and a link back.
Bulk access to the underlying UK companies dataset is available directly from Companies House under the Open Government Licence — please use that route rather than scraping us.
4. Email brief
You can subscribe to the daily email brief by entering your email address and confirming the double-opt-in link sent to that address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the footer of any email, or by emailing us. We will only use your email address to deliver the brief and any subscription-management notices — see the privacy policy for details.
5. Intellectual property
The underlying company filings are Crown copyright and made available by Companies House under the Open Government Licence v3.0 . Company names, registered numbers, logos, and filed documents remain the property of their respective companies and the Crown.
The editorial, layout, design, sector taxonomy, signals, commentary, and software that make up the site are © Kyle Bolton and contributors. Quoting short excerpts with a link back is fine; wholesale copying, mirroring, or republishing of the site is not.
6. No affiliation
The service is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Companies House, the Department for Business and Trade, His Majesty's Government, or any UK public body. References to "UK Companies House" describe only the public dataset we derive figures from.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, data, or anticipated savings, or for any indirect, consequential, or special loss, arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the service, or your reliance on any figure, summary, or commentary published on the site.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law.
8. Corrections and takedown
If a figure or attribution on the site is incorrect, or if you believe a page is misleading about a specific company, email us at [email protected] or use the per-company correction link. Confirmed corrections feed back into the pipeline.
9. Termination
We may suspend or restrict your access to the service if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that puts the service or its users at risk. You can stop using the service at any time; if you are subscribed to the email brief, you can unsubscribe via the link in any email.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes will be flagged in the email brief or as a banner on the site before they take effect.
11. Governing law
These terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
