“In light of the deficit on the balance sheet, the Trustees considered a number of factors to assess the Union's ability to operate as a going concern. After reviewing budgets, forecasts and cash-flows, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity still has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Through the loan facility and regular discussions on funding, there is financial support from the University. Moreover, despite the loan creating a liability on the balance sheet, this is payable over a set time period and with regular amounts. The Trustees therefore continue to believe the going concern basis of accounting, appropriate in preparing the annual financial statements.”
