“The Trustees have assessed the financial position of Aequalis Education Trust and its ability to continue as a going concern. While the financial position at 31st August 2025 presented challenges, the Trust's conversion to a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) on 1st September 2025 has fundamentally altered its operational and financial outlook. During the year ended 31 August 2025, the Trust incurred a deficit on free reserves of £61,704 (2024: deficit of £56,138). At the year end, the Trust had a deficit on free reserves of £55,695 (2024: surplus of £6,009). The integration of new schools into the MAT from 1st September 2025, with a further school expected to join in early 2026, is projected to significantly increase the Trust's reserves. The new schools also bring considerable strength and experience to the leadership team. Financial due diligence conducted by a third party has confirmed the Trust's financial viability, indicating it will operate within the Department for Education's expected reserve levels for the next twelve months. The Finance, Audit & Risk (FAR) Committee will continue to monitor the Trust's financial position, reporting on a regular basis to the Trust Board. The Trustees are not aware of any material matters that would impact the Trust's financial position. Pupil numbers are expected to remain high, ensuring consistent income. Consequently, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Trust has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.”
