“The directors consider that the company has adequate resources to continue operating for at least 12 months from the date of signing these accounts. The financial statements have therefore been prepared on the going concern basis, notwithstanding net current liabilities of £1,490,000, which the directors believe to be appropriate for the following reasons. In the period ended 26 December 2024 the company reported a profit after tax of £55,000, net current liabilities remained broadly the same at £1,490,000 and cash reserves stood at £629,000. Q4 2024 benefitted from incredible performances from some blockbuster films, notably Wicked. These performances demonstrated strong consumer demand for the right titles. The Shareholders did not recall the mezzanine debt repayable on demand during the period and the Directors do not anticipate that they intend to do so. The film slate is now more secure and admissions are less volatile than in prior years. This enhances belief within DCM that, with the right strategy and planning, revenues will grow over the coming years. The company is jointly owned 50:50 by Cineworld Group plc and Odeon Cinemas Limited. The directors have prepared cash flow forecasts, including a severe downside scenario, covering a period of at least 12 months from the date of approval of these financial statements. These forecasts indicate that, taking into account the available facilities (as detailed in Note 11), the company will have sufficient funds to meet its liabilities as they fall due.”
Significant events
- “The 2024 results reflect the challenging advertising market conditions, with turnover declining by 7% year-on-year. Cost of sales, which includes revenue share payments to exhibitors, production, and distribution costs, decreased by 8% over the same period. Revenue performance in the first nine months was impacted by ongoing volatility in the advertising sector, further exacerbated by the General Election and the UEFA European Championship, both of which influenced advertisers' budget allocations.”
- “Despite a slower start to the final quarter, largely due to Joker: Folie à Deux underperforming by 4.8 million DCM admissions compared to its predecessor, the latter part of the year saw a strong rebound. Paddington in Peru, released in early November, marked a turning point. This was followed by Gladiator II, Wicked: Part One, and Moana 2, released over consecutive weekends, driving a 78% year-on-year increase in November admissions. This momentum carried into December, bolstered by Mufasa: The Lion King and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, pushing monthly DCM admissions to 15.7 million — the highest of the year and up 36% year-on-year.”
- “2025 has begun on a strong note, with January, February, and April showing significant year-on-year growth, driven by the continued success of Mufasa: The Lion King, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Captain America: Brave New World, and particularly A Minecraft Movie. We currently forecast admissions to be up 11% in the first half of the year compared to H1 2024.”
- “The year is set to conclude on a high note during the traditionally strong Christmas period. Avatar: Fire and Ash, releasing on 19 December, is expected to be the season's marquee title, with a target to match the 5.5 million DCM admissions achieved by its predecessor in 2022. It will be supported by the family-friendly adaptation of Enid Blyton's The Magic Faraway Tree.”

Each % is (latest − prior) ÷ |prior| for the line item as filed. The comparison is only shown when the latest and prior accounts cover broadly equal-length periods — short or long stubs (typical around incorporation or a year-end change) are suppressed rather than misrepresented.
