“The directors of the company have prepared forecasts and projections for the business, along with financial contingency planning and related prioritisation work, which demonstrate the company's ability to meet its obligations as they fall due. Due to the net current liability position of the company as at 31 December 2024, the company's parent, the Institute of Physics, has provided a formal letter of support confirming that it will provide financial support to the company if such support were to be required. In the three months following the end of the reporting period to 31 March 2025, the company has generated 2% more revenue than the equivalent period in the prior year. When compared to the company's budget for 2025, the revenue in the three months to 31 March 2025 is 3.7% behind budget due to timing variances in journals sales, however operating profit for the same period is 33.0% ahead of budget due to lower than budgeted expenditure in this period. Post year end cash receipts have been strong and as at 31 March 2025 the company's cash balance was £27.6m, which compares to £17.1m as at 31 December 2024. In light of the post year end trading activity and the forecasts that have been prepared which cover at least 12 months from the date of signing these financial statements, the directors consider it appropriate to prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis.”
