- “The 2024-2025 financial year can be summarised under the heading of "change". Externally, the long-awaited UK election campaign kickstarted the year with the first Labour government for 14 years taking office in July and delivering their first Budget in the autumn. Towards the end of the financial year the US election brought President Trump back to office, and with it, greater discussions around trade fragmentation and the international economic structures. Internally, this period saw important transitions in our own leadership team. In June we were pleased to welcome Sir Philip Rutnam as our new Chair, succeeding Neil Gaskell, who had skilfully served as interim chair since Professor Nicholas Crafts sadly passed away in late 2023. Furthermore, we initiated the search for a new Director, prompted by Professor Jagjit S. Chadha's resignation in October.”
