- Going concern
- Affirmed
“In auditing the financial statements, we have concluded that the directors' use of the going concern basis of accounting in the preparation of the financial statements is appropriate. Based on the work we have performed, we have not identified any material uncertainties relating to events or conditions that, individually or collectively, may cast significant doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern for a period of at least twelve months from when the financial statements are authorised for issue.”
Significant events
- “The number of animals passing through our Livestock auction dropped dramatically as compared to 2023. The number of animals was down by over 17%.”
- “A much slower process of collecting payments from our buyers. Not only is this taking up considerable resource but results in us making some payments to our sellers slower than we would like.”
- “The delays by Government in 2024 in announcing new support schemes and the confusion this gave rise to.”
- “Major issues in 2024 facing the whole of the hospitality sector making it extremely difficult for all food businesses like VeeVa to attract and retain personnel and giving rise to significantly increased staffing costs and food costs. The overall economic situation also lead to a reduction of customers in VeeVa.”
- “The resignation of John Wharton as our Head of Livestock had a significant impact on the results of our Livestock division. David Porter also resigned his position as auctioneer.”
- “In December 2023 James Forster resigned as Head of Furniture. This also led to disruption and increased costs. We were extremely pleased that James Moore agreed to take on the role with support from Mark Wise as the Director in charge of Furniture.”
- “VeeVa made a loss of £115,443 in 2024. ...were forced to close VeeVa's doors in September. ...pleased to enter into an arrangement with Cumbrian Baker who have now reopened the café.”
- “The Livestock division made a loss of £121,951 in 2024. We have also been forced to make a provision for bad debts of £98,640.”

Each % is (latest − prior) ÷ |prior| for the line item as filed. The comparison is only shown when the latest and prior accounts cover broadly equal-length periods — short or long stubs (typical around incorporation or a year-end change) are suppressed rather than misrepresented. Lines a company doesn't report are omitted. About these numbers
