Following discussions with the Age UK Barrow and District Board and a period of due diligence, it was agreed that such a merger should be progressed. Since this decision was taken a lot of work has taken place to progress the merger and it is intended for this to be completed on 1st April 2025. The result of this merger is that Age UK South Cumbria will operate on a much wider footprint taking in South Cumbria, which can be defined as the areas covered by the previous local councils of South Lakeland District Council and Barrow District Council.”
