Audit & accounting basis
- Accounting basis
- FRS 102
- Reporting scope
- Standalone (parent only)
- Auditor
- Pierce C A Limited
- Audit opinion
- Unqualified (clean)
- Going concern
- Affirmed
“In auditing the financial statements, we have concluded that the directors' use of the going concern basis of accounting in the preparation of the financial statements is appropriate. Based on the work we have performed, we have not identified any material uncertainties relating to events or conditions that, individually or collectively, may cast significant doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern for a period of at least twelve months from when the financial statements are authorised for issue.”
Significant events
- “The company converted from a limited company to a Community Interest Company (C.I.C) as at 9th October 2024.”
- “NLTG's monitoring visit from Ofsted in July 2024 showed that the company's journey of continual quality improvements had led to good progress towards regaining a strong rating at the next full inspection.”
- “New Government policies including increases to employers National Insurance contributions and the National Minimum Wage meant that many businesses retained their focus on business and financial security rather than staff growth and development, leading to another challenging year for recruitment to NLTG's provision.”
- “A much slower than anticipated rollout of new Government initiatives for the sector including levy reform, changes to apprenticeship delivery and other funding mechanisms, led to difficulty in planning, confusion for employers and further challenge for recruitment to NLTG programmes.”
- “Staff recruitment and retention continued as an issue for the whole FE sector this year. Keeping pace with salaries offered by other sectors again led in some case to staff returning to their industries for increased wages.”
- “The company's investment portfolio was split between two investment management companies this year and has performed well since.”
- “This led to NLTG undertaking a restructure of the business late in the financial year under review. Staff numbers were reduced, expenditure reviewed and the structure of teams within the business reorganised. The costs of this restructure have been absorbed within the financial year 2024-25 under review, being largely one-off costs.”
- “The company still continued investment in its premises, equipment and resources including further upgrades to technology and systems, maintenance and development of its centres and the replacement of older company vehicles.”
- “In 2024-2025 441 apprentices in 301 companies successfully completed their course and remained in full time employment.”
- “In 2024-2025, 427 students attended NLTG's three study programme centres, meaning they were in education and training and not contributing to local and national NEET (Not in Employment, Education and Training) figures.”
- “Sponsoring local events in Accrington aimed at engagement with young people to ensure they are aware of opportunities for themselves post-16 (Hyndburn jobs fair, Hyndburn futures event)”
- “Involvement in Accrington community events aimed at bringing the community together (Accrington food festival, soap box challenge, Accrington Stanley FC shirt giveaway)”
- “NLTG tutors and apprentices volunteering to work on the restoration of an old Accrington bus that will be used for community events and education once completed.”
- “Provision of training for students of Broadfield Specialist School who have generic learning difficulties in basic woodworking and upholstery at our training centre in Accrington.”

Each % is (latest − prior) ÷ |prior| for the line item as filed. Periods don't have to be exactly 12 months apart — a long or short period (typical around incorporation or year-end changes) will distort the comparison. Lines a company doesn't report are omitted. About these numbers
