- Affirmed
“The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The Directors have considered relevant information, including the annual budget, forecast future cash flows and the impact of contingent events in making their assessment. The assessment performed did not identify any material uncertainties that may cast doubt on the future viability of the Group and therefore it is appropriate for the financial statements to have been prepared on a going concern basis.”

Significant events
- “If 2024 was a year of profound change in the external environment, with a change of Government and continued economic uncertainties, internally the AOP has continued to enjoy calm stability in both staff and financial terms.”
- “The announcement by the new Government of its support for the Darzi report, with its recommendation for a shift from treatment to prevention, hospitals to community and analogue to digital, was also entirely consistent with what the AOP had been arguing.”
- “We devised and implemented a new strategy for recruiting and supporting students a key activity given the continuing disruption to the student education system created by the implementation of the General Optical Council's Education Strategic Review and the adjustment of the university teaching system to a post-Covid environment.”
- “The new strategy has seen our student membership levels return to pre-pandemic levels, helping to secure the AOP's future membership numbers.”
- “2024 being the final year of the three-year CPD cycle set by the regulator, there was increased demand for education from among our members and the education programme therefore expanded during the year to attempt to meet this demand.”
- “project to replace our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system the first step in a wider attempt to transform our IT infrastructure to take advantage of the capabilities delivered by new technology.”
- “We also continued our programme of refurbishing our office, closing it for a short period at the end of the year in order to upgrade the facilities on the remaining office floors and ensuring the space remains an attractive offer to tenants.”
- “2024 saw a significant increase in overall activity across the legal teams - clinical and regulatory, professional discipline, employment and clinical negligence.”
- “A competitive offer from a new insurer was received at the end of 2024 and the decision was taken to move the insurance contract to a new provider for the first time in many years.”

Each % is (latest − prior) ÷ |prior| for the line item as filed. Periods don't have to be exactly 12 months apart — a long or short period (typical around incorporation or year-end changes) will distort the comparison. Lines a company doesn't report are omitted. About these numbers
